The Victor

Poet: C.W. Longenecker

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win but think you can’t,
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

very beautiful poem
The Park Bench tells a story that will make you stop and appreciate each day you have is special.

The Park Bench
Poet: Unkown
Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree.
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
For the world was intent on dragging me down.
And if that weren't enough to ruin my day,
A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play.
He stood right before me with his head tilted down
And said with great excitement, "Look what I found!"

In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight,
With its petals all worn - not enough rain, or too little light.
Wanting him to take his dead flower and go off to play,
I faked a smile and then shifted away.
But instead of retreating he sat next to my side
And placed the flower to his nose and declared with overacted surprise,
"It sure smells pretty and it's beautiful too.
That's why I picked it; here, it's for you."

The weed before me was dying or dead.
Not vibrant of colors: orange, yellow or red.
But I knew I must take it, or he might never leave.
So I reached for the flower, and replied, "Just what I need."
But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid-air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the first time
That weed-toting boy could not see he was blind.

I heard my voice quiver; tears shone in the sun
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.
"You're welcome," he smiled, and then ran off to play,
Unaware of the impact he'd had on my day.
I sat there and wondered how he managed to see
A self-pitying woman beneath an old willow tree.
How did he know of my self-indulged plight?
Perhaps from his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight.

Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see
The problem was not with the world; the problem was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind,
I vowed to see the beauty in life, and appreciate every second that's mine.
And then I held that wilted flower up to my nose
And breathed in the fragrance of a beautiful rose
And smiled as I watched that young boy, another weed in hand,
About to change the life of an unsuspecting old man.

Enjoy this short poem, Be What You Want To Be and Love What You Have, written by Grant Ngobean. Be inspired by the words and verses in this poem about life.

Be What You Want To Be
and Love What You Have
Poet Grant Ngobean

I believe in life we should be grateful
Of what we have and who we are.
A human being means be alive
And being alive means taking authority of your life.

When you meet challenges stand your ground
And don’t be moved by the wind
A human being is like tent,
Has no foundation, when it rains it gets wet
When the wind blows it goes to whichever direction the wind takes it to

With time it gets torn and has to be patched up, that is a life of a man
We go through different challenges in life;
They should make you and not break you
They ought to make you strong
And not discourage you; do not hold to the situation
Go through it and live on,
But remember the lesson learned through it

Live according to Gods calling; move in love, love peace and happiness
Life is too short to live in bitterness, anger and negativity
Empower yourself
And take authority; stop looking for wrong in others
Treasure the little that you have, work on it, be happy and appreciate life
Do what you do best, Last but not least humble yourself, and let people see God through you

Mom... I Miss You

No Matter What I do,
Could Ever Repay Your Debt!
Forget The Whole Life..
Just A Single Tear You Wept!

Mama, I Miss You Every Moment,
Should've Heeded What You Reckoned!
What A Total Fool I Was..
Went For The Shiny Thing That Beckoned!

As A Naive Child Sometimes..
I Felt That You Were Mean!
Well For This Little Idiot..
That's What Kept Him Clean!

Resting My Head On Your Lap..
Relieves All My Pain!
My Heart Loses Its Load..
Feel Relaxed To The Vein!

You Place My Head On Your Bosom..
And I Hear Your Heart Beat!
I Testify To The Fact That..
The Heaven's Under Your Feet!

Mama, I Know That You Too Miss Me..
More Than I Could Ever Miss You!
I Wish I Had The Wings....
To Come Flying And Kiss You!
