HTC makes an entry to the budding market of smartphones that come with 3D capability with its EVO 3D. The HTC EVO 3D runs on the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system and boasts of features that will catch your attention. Under the hood, the EVO 3D makes room for a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, an Adreno 220 GPU based on a MSM 8660 chipset and 1 GB of RAM.

The EVO 3D has a 4.3-inch 3D LCD capacitive touchscreen with a qHD resolution (540 x 960 pixel) that shows off images in vivid colors and playbacks videos fluidly. HTC has bestowed this device with its proprietary user interface, HTC Sense, which makes for better web browsing.

On the rear of the EVO 3D are housed two 5 megapixel cameras with dual LED flash and auto focus features. The two cameras help you click pictures and shoot videos in 3D. The handset also features a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera that lets you make video calls.

The capturing of images is done in 2 megapixel resolution when you opt to take 3D pictures, while for 2D, the resolution of pictures taken is 5 megapixel. You can enjoy high definition videos in both 2D and 3D as the EVO 3D is capable of recording videos in 720p resolution.

Design

The most outstanding feature on the body of the HTC EVO 3D is the enormous, dedicated camera button located on the right edge. Beside the camera key resides the camera switch key which is a slide button that lets you select between 2D and 3D modes. The volume rocker is also accommodated on the right side of the device.

This Android smartphone by HTC has its power/lock button on the top edge, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a secondary microphone, while the microphone is placed at the bottom. The left edge of the EVO 3D makes room for the USB/HDMI connector port.

The back cover of the phone wraps its angular edges reaching out to the front panel. Below the touchscreen are located the four capacitive buttons - home, menu, back, and search. The HTC EVO 3D packs in the regular sensors like accelerometer, digital compass, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor, apart from the gyroscope that recognizes movement in 3D space more precisely as compared to the accelerometer.

Storage and Battery

The EVO 3D is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that has a capacity of 1730 mAh. The battery, when fully charged, can serve talk time up to 9 hours in 2G and up to 7 hours in 3G. The HTC EVO 3D ships with an internal memory of 1 GB. The phone is SD 2.0 card compatible and you can use one to expand the memory up to 32 GB.

Connectivity and Features

You can connect to the Internet on this HTC handset using 3G and Wi-Fi and also share your Internet connection with other devices as the EVO 3D has Wi-Fi hotspot feature. For file transfers, you can make use of USB or Bluetooth. You can watch videos and images taken from your HTC phone on the big screen through DLNA or HDMI.

The HTC EVO 3D also comes with SNS integration and preloaded Facebook and Twitter apps for you to share your world with your loved ones. With A-GPS and Google Maps support made available to you through this phone, you can be rest assured of never losing your track. You can also take your business with you as the EVO 3D is enabled with document viewer and editor, where you can read and edit Word, Excel and Presentation files.
