22 फरवरी से 26 मार्च के बीच ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ चार टेस्ट मैचों की घरेलू सीरीज के पहले दो टेस्ट मैचों के लिए चयनकर्ताओं ने भारतीय टीम का ऐलान कर दिया है। पिछली टेस्ट सीरीज में हार के बाद आलोचनाएं झेलने वाले टीम इंडिया के कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धौनी की कप्तानी एक बार फिर बरकरार रखी गई है।

इस 15 सदस्यीय टीम में जहां श्रीसंत और सुरेश रैना को एक बार फिर टीम से दूर रखा गया है वहीं सभी को चौंकाते हुए गौतम गंभीर को बाहर का रास्ता दिखा दिया गया है और उनकी जगह शिखर धवन की सरप्राइज एंट्री हुई है वहीं भज्जी की भी लंबे समय के बाद टेस्ट टीम में वापसी हो गई है। टीम में मुरली विजय और रवींद्र जडेजा को भी मौका दिया गया है। इसके अलावा टेस्ट टीम में पहली बार शामिल होने वाले भुवनेश्वर कुमार को भी आगाज का मौका मिलेगा। भारतीय टीम-

दूसरी ओर अच्छे प्रदर्शन के बाद भी सुरेश रैना और वसीम जाफर सिलेक्टर्स का भरोसा नहीं जीत पाए। वहीं जहीर खान और उमेश यादव के चोटिल होने का भुवनेश्वकर कुमार और अशोक डिंडा को लाभ मिल गया।

गौतम गंभीर अब शिखर धवन के स्थान पर 16 से18 फरवरी तक ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ भारत ए टीम की कप्तानी करेंगे।

Eight Australian bowlers had a workout on the second day of their warm-up match in Chennai and Moises Henriques and Nathan Lyon were the most successful. They worked their way through the Board President's XI top order and helped the Australians secure a slender first-innings lead.

Henriques and Lyon reduced the home side to 61 for 4 and eventually took seven wickets between them. Glenn Maxwell, James Pattinson and rookie spinner Ashton Agar were the other wicket-takers. Fast bowler Jackson Bird did not take a wicket but conceded only ten runs in as many overs.

Ambati Rayudu scored 87 for the Board President's XI but didn't get much support from anyone else. Parvez Rassol, who had taken seven wickets on the first day, made 36 at No. 8, the next best score. The home side was dismissed for 230.

"I have worked a lot on my game with Robin Singh and Mr Sharath and I am getting into good positions, having enough time to play my shots," Rayudu said after the game. "Mentally I am looking to spend a lot more time in the middle. Have been relaxed the whole season, happy that I am getting into a zone such as this.

"Most of them were the same pace, they were really trying to swing the old ball, use a lot of reverse," he said of the Australian bowlers. "They got reverse swing after about 30 overs, it started reversing pretty early and they worked on it as well. They are looking to pull out a lot of reverse swing."

The Australians played four overs in their second innings, opening with Glenn Maxwell and Usman Khawaja, and made 15 for 0.

Glenn Maxwell could be the spinning surprise for Australia in India.

There is a lot to like about the young Australian allrounder. He bats with purpose and flair, not unlike Kevin Pietersen, fields like a Trojan, and his offspin bowling is coming on a treat.

South Australia's Nathan Lyon will lead the spin attack. His Test record is good (61 wickets at 32.16 in 19 matches), but his last two outings in first-class cricket have been a concern, in that he has spun the ball hard but has bowled with a flat trajectory, rarely bothering opposing batsmen. In the last Test against Sri Lanka, on a turning SCG wicket, he took 1 for 69 and 1 for 66, followed by 0 for 77 and 1 for 15 for South Australia versus Victoria in a Sheffield Shield clash.

If Lyon struggles in India, Maxwell will have to shoulder an even greater burden. Happily for Australia, it looks like he thrives on the challenge and is eager to take the Indians on. He is obviously a confident young man without being overly brash like Pietersen, and that is evident in his strokeplay, especially during that audacious unconquered 51 against West Indies in Perth, and in his being able to hold up well with the ball when under fire. He might go for a few fours but he always looks like he will get his man. There seems to be a technical hitch with his front arm, but he spins it hard and has great belief in his ability.

While Tasmanian left-armer Xavier Doherty is in the squad, I think he will play only if Lyon loses all form. It appears the selectors would prefer a spinning allrounder as a back-up slow man. Such a strategy makes sense in a team that is bereft of many good players of spin bowling. The batting needs a boost and that means Maxwell is in competition with New South Wales allrounders Steve Smith and Moises Henriques for a Test spot.

However, Maxwell is far and away a better spinner than the legspinner Smith, whose form with the ball has been abysmal and whose faulty action is greatly inhibiting his progress. Henriques, a medium-pacer, is unlikely to play in the Tests unless Australia opt for Lyon as the sole spin bowler.

India seem almost certain to prepare spin-friendly tracks, perhaps even those of the spitting-cobra variety, in the hope that their spinners R Ashwin (offbreak) and Pragyan Ojha (left-arm orthodox) will outbowl Lyon and Co. Don't be fooled, for Lyon and, I suspect, Maxwell will do a good job. They aren't quite in the Graeme Swann class, but they are talented, eager to improve, and may give Australia the edge.

Maxwell is the latest millionaire in the IPL, collecting a truckload of loot in signing with the Mumbai Indians, but it is his upcoming performances for Australia in the Test series in India that might make a lasting impression. He came into the Victorian limited-overs side in 2009-10, but it was the following summer that he first gave notice of his fabulous skill, with a 19-ball half-century - the fastest domestic one-day fifty in the nation's domestic history - for Victoria against Tasmania. His powerful striking has made him a threat in all three formats and his maiden first-class hundred came in March 2011, when he scored a brisk 103 not out against South Australia.

The likes of Ed Cowan, David Warner, Phillip Hughes, Usman Khawaja and Matthew Wade are extremely vulnerable to quality spin bowling. Australia cannot rely totally on the skills of Michael Clarke

The half-century in Perth gave notice that here was a young man who could improvise and adapt to demoralise and defeat his opponent. It was a batting show that would have delighted Pietersen. Unlike Pietersen, Maxwell is not mentally fragile, but like him, he is ever willing to take the opposition attack on and unafraid to try an improvised shot to bemuse and defeat the bowler.

As a bowler, I suspect Maxwell will become better than a part-timer or a second option for future Test sides.

His all-round talents will be desperately needed in India, where the preponderance of left-hand Australian batsmen will be sorely tested by the home team's spin bowlers. The likes of Ed Cowan, David Warner, Phillip Hughes, Usman Khawaja and Matthew Wade are extremely vulnerable to quality spin bowling. Swann must be rubbing his spinning fingers in glee at the prospect of bowling against so many left-hand batsmen in the coming Ashes battles. Sri Lanka's Rangana Herath, not a big spinner of the ball, but clever in his subtle changes of pace, made the Australian batting look ordinary at times this summer.

Australia cannot rely totally on the skills of Michael Clarke, whose batting against spin probably has no equal worldwide at the moment. Even Shane Watson struggles against good spin bowling, and, like all the left-handers aforementioned, he is much more comfortable against the faster bowlers, when the ball comes on to the bat.

The Indians will play Ashwin and Ojha, but they may also call on the services of Harbhajan Singh, who has worried Australian batting line-ups over the years and has a knack of getting under the skin of the opposition. They are not a patch on Erapalli Prasanna and Bishan Bedi of old, but on spinning minefields they will worry the Australians.

The Australians would do well to take a leaf out of the Michael Hussey book of batting. He hustled from the outset, always looking for ones and twos. The main thing is to rotate the strike, break the rhythm of the bowler and test his patience. The batsmen must keep the scoreboard ticking over.

If Australia do that then Clarke's men might just turn the tables on the Indians. And Maxwell is just the young man to provide Clarke with a real X-factor in his team's quest for victory on the subcontinent.

Not a single observer on the opening day of India's series against Australia was surprised by the sight of Michael Clarke conjuring his side's spinal innings. And not one of them would have been game to predict that Clarke's partner for a rousing stand of 151, after some major early stutters on a parched pitch, would be the debutant Moises Henriques.

Arriving at the wicket soon after lunch, his team floundering at 153 for 5, Henriques showed enormous composure and exemplary technique to construct a supporting innings in the company of his captain, fulfilling the potential first evident when he starred for Australia's Under-19 World Cup team when only 16 years old a decade ago. Clarke's century, which took him past Sir Donald Bradman on the nation's list of Test aggregates, was less of a surprise but no less an achievement, his pacing and poise only briefly interrupted at a critical moment shortly before tea.

India's outstanding bowler R Ashwin appealed vehemently for a bat-pad catch, and replays showed a fat inside edge. Seldom have India cursed the lack of DRS given their opposition to its vagaries, but they were left to gnash their teeth this time. A wicket then would have opened up Australia's tail to a ball that was reverse swinging and spinning. Instead Clarke and Henriques were not separated until the final half-hour, the allrounder missing a sweep at Ashwin before Ravindra Jadeja skidded one past Mitchell Starc.

Clarke had showed rare glee at winning the toss on a surface more clay court than cricket pitch, and the visitors made a rapid start before stuttering twice. First when Ed Cowan's intemperate charge down the wicket was followed by the swift exit of a vulnerable Phillip Hughes, and again when Shane Watson, David Warner and Matthew Wade fell swiftly after lunch.

Ashwin gained spin, dip and bounce while harvesting six wickets, but the rest tended to pitch too short and gave the Australians room to manoeuvre the ball around the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Ishant Sharma and the debutant Bhuvneshwar Kumar appeared peripheral members of the attack; the omitted Pragyan Ojha can feel justly aggrieved.

Cowan and Warner made a cheery start, swatting the ball around with ease against Kumar and Ishant. Warner was the scratchier of the two, having batted properly in the nets for only a few days before the match due to his rehab from a fractured thumb. Twice Ashwin beat Warner outside off stump, first drawing an edge that an incredulous Virender Sehwag contrived to spill at slip, then creating a difficult stumping chance that MS Dhoni failed to complete due to the bounce extracted.

Meanwhile Cowan looked serene, so much so that he advanced to loft Harbhajan down the ground for only the second six of his 14-Test career. If that stroke showed how good Cowan was feeling, his next aggressive measure was to smack of misplaced comfort. Trying to belt another six, he was beaten by Ashwin's greater drop and bounce, and failed to get back to his crease before Dhoni tipped the bails off. On the first morning of the series, it was hard to imagine a more wasteful exit.

Unlike Cowan, Hughes had failed to make a decent score in the warm-up, and his indecisiveness was evident in a stay that featured plenty of shuffling and ended with a horrid, half-hearted cut at Ashwin that dragged the ball onto leg stump. Watson found the middle of the bat from his first ball, and with Warner had formed the foundation of a potentially handsome union by lunch.

However the interval disrupted their rhythm, and moments after resumption Watson was pinned lbw on the crease by a quicker, straighter delivery that skidded. Warner fell in similar fashion, fooled by Ashwin's change in trajectory and struck in front on the back foot when he might have leaned forward.

Wade fought to get himself established but on 12 was too imprecise with placement of bat and pad and was ruled lbw to an offbreak that pitched on middle and straightened. After their rapid start Australia were sinking fast.

Henriques walked to the middle in this dire scenario, but showed the good sense of a maturing cricketer, and the skills of one raised on Sydney's often slow and turning pitches. He helped Clarke in manning the pumps, then setting a steady course, and was not unduly troubled despite the pitch's tendency to offer the odd ball that jumped and fizzed or scuttled through low.

Ashwin was absent for most of this phase, inconvenienced by a jammed finger. His return to the crease should have brought an instant wicket in the shadows of the tea break, as Clarke squeezed off bat and pad to short leg. But the umpire Kumar Dharmasena was deaf to the appeals. Clarke's mastery of body language was apparent, too, holding the bat up and re-marking his guard as though nothing had happened.

Aware of how the afternoon began, Clarke and Henriques did not dally after tea, jumping on India's bowlers with intent. Their attack soon had Dhoni reverting to the timid captaincy and modest field placings he has become increasingly reliant upon in recent times, and the hosts' bowling and fielding lost much of their earlier vim.

Clarke appeared handicapped by a sore right shoulder at times, but was otherwise in control. Henriques, his confidence growing by the ball, did not look like getting out until he aimed a sweep at Ashwin in the 90th over of play, Marais Erasmus handing a line-ball verdict to the hosts. Starc's swift exit provided a reminder of what may have unfolded had the tail been exposed earlier, but Clarke was still there at the close, going to his hundred with a lofted drive. With Henriques' help, he had given Australia a chance.

चेन्नई टेस्ट के पहले दिन स्पिनर आर अश्विन ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया के बल्लेबाजों का जीना मुश्किल जरूर कर दिया, लेकिन कप्तान माइकल क्लार्क ने अपने बल्ले से मामला पूरी तरह संभाल लिया।

बल्ले और कप्तानी से रिकॉर्ड बनाने में माहिर हो चुके माइकल क्लार्क ने महज 7 रन बना कर सबसे पहले क्रिकेट के डॉन सर ब्रेडमैन को पीछे किया, फिर हाफ सेंचुरी पूरी करते ही ऑस्ट्रेलिया के 7 दिग्गजों को क्लीन बोल्ड कर दिया।

चेन्नई टेस्ट शुरू होने से पहले ऑस्ट्रेलियाई कप्तान क्लार्क के टेस्ट खाते में 6989 रन थे। उन्होंने 41वें ओवर की पांचवीं गेंद पर अपनी पारी 8वां रन बना कर सर डॉन ब्रेडमैन के 6996 टेस्ट रनों के रिकॉर्ड को तोड़ दिया।

ब्रेडमैन ने महज 52 मैचों की 80 पारियों में 99.94 की रिकॉर्ड औसत से 6996 रन बनाए थे।

क्लार्क को इस रिकॉर्ड को तोड़ने में 90 मैचों की 149 पारियों का समय लगा।

क्लार्क ने अपनी शतकीय पारी के दौरान टेस्ट क्रिकेट में 7000 रन भी पूरे किए।

महज 149 पारियों में 7000 का आंकड़ा पार कर वे तीसरे सबसे तेज ऑस्ट्रेलियाई बल्लेबाज बन गए हैं।

उन्होंने एक ही झटके में सात दिग्गज क्रिकेटरों को पीछे कर दिया।

हेडन सबसे तेज कंगारू

टेस्ट में सबसे कम पारियों में 7000 रन पूरे करने का ऑस्ट्रेलियाई रिकॉर्ड पूर्व बैट्समैन मैथ्यू हेडन के नाम है। हेडन ने 16 मार्च 2006 को साउथ अफ्रीका के खिलाफ 142 पारियों में 7000 रन पूरे किए थे।

दूसरे नंबर पर पूर्व कप्तान रिकी पोंटिंग का नाम है। पंटर को 7000 टेस्ट रन पूरे करने में 145 पारियों का समय लगा।

भारत के सबसे तेज टेस्ट सात हजारी हैं वीरेंद्र सहवाग। वीरू ने 3 अगस्त 2010 को श्रीलंका के खिलाफ कोलंबो टेस्ट में 7000 का आंकड़ा पार किया था। उन्होंने सात हजारी बनने में 134 पारियों का समय लिया था।

टेस्ट क्रिकेट में सबसे तेज 7000 रन पूरे करने का वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड इंग्लैंड के पूर्व बल्लेबाजी लेजेंड वैली हेमंड के नाम है। हेमंड ने 17 अगस्त 1946 को भारत के खिलाफ हुए ओवल टेस्ट में इस उपलब्धि को हासिल किया था। उन्हें सात हजारी बनने में कुल 131 पारियों का समय लगा था।

एम ए चिदंबरम स्टेडियम में हो रहे टेस्ट मुकाबले के पहले ही दिन स्टार ऑफ स्पिनर आर अश्विन ने एक खास चौका पूरा कर लिया।

ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ पांचवां टेस्ट मैच खेलते हुए उन्होंने ओपनर ऐड कोवन को स्टंप आउट किया। कोवन महज 29 रन बना कर पवेलियन लौटे।

अपने घर चेन्नई में पहला टेस्ट खेल रहे अश्विन ने करियर में चौथी बार कोवन का विकेट लिया है। कोवन के अलावा इंग्लैंड के कप्तान एलिस्टर कुक, न्यूजीलैंड के डेनियल फ्लिन और वेस्ट इंडीज के मार्लन सैमुअल्स को भी अश्विन 4-4 बार आउट कर चुके हैं।

जैसे ही रवि शास्त्री ने कहा कि ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने टॉस जीत लिया है, वैसे ही क्लार्क के चेहरे पर एक मुस्कान आ गई। उन्होंने बड़े उत्साह के साथ कहा, वी विल बैट फर्स्ट।

यूपी के स्टार स्विंग गेंदबाज भुवनेश्वर कुमार ने चेन्नई टेस्ट के साथ करियर का आगाज किया। टेस्ट में उनकी शुरुआत वनडे जैसी धमाकेदार नहीं रही।

वनडे में भुवनेश्वर ने करियर की पहली ही गेंद पर पाकिस्तानी ओपनर को आउट किया था। लेकिन ऑस्ट्रेलिया के ओपनर्स ने उन्हें यह मौका नहीं दिया।

पहले स्पेल में भुवनेश्वर ने 4 ओवर की गेंदबाजी में 15 रन दिए।

ऑस्ट्रेलिया के कप्तान माइकल क्लार्क भारतीय मैदानों पर जीत के इरादे से यहां आए हैं। इसका सबूत उन्होंने चेन्नई टेस्ट के लिए अपने प्लेयिंग इलेवन के सेलेक्शन में दे दिया।

स्पिनर्स के लिए जन्नत रही चेन्नई की पिच पर क्लार्क ने एक या दो नहीं, बल्कि तीन तेज गेंदबाजों के साथ उतरने का फैसला किया है।

क्रिकेट पंडित इसे क्लार्क द्वारा खेला एक जुआं कह रहे हैं, लेकिन ऑस्ट्रेलियाई टीम में पप (पिल्ले) के नाम से मशहूर क्लार्क ऐसा नहीं मानते।

शुक्रवार से शुरू हो रहे पहले टेस्ट की पूर्व संध्या पर उन्होंने कहा, "मैं नहीं मानता यह किसी प्रकार का जुआं है। हम पीटर सिडल, मिचेल स्टार्क और जेम्स पैटिंसन जैसे तीन स्पेशलिस्ट पेसर के साथ खेल रहे हैं। हेनरिक्स के रूप में हमारे पास एक बेहतरीन ऑलराउंडर है और स्पिन अटैक का जिम्मा नाथन लियॉन, डेविड वार्नर और मुझ पर है।"

क्लार्क के इस फैसले के पीछे टीम इंडिया के दिग्गजों की एक कमजोरी है।

क्लार्क ने अपने साथियों के साथ बैठ कर इसका गहन अध्ययन करने के बाद ही इस प्लेयिंग इलेवन का सेलेक्शन किया है।

टीम इंडिया के मैन इन फॉर्म कप्तान धोनी तेज गेंदबाजी के आगे ढीले पड़ जाते हैं। उनकी इस कमजोरी को उजागर करते हैं ये आंकड़े जिन्हें देखने के बाद ही क्लार्क ने बनाया है अपना गेम प्लान।

31 दिसंबर 2012 तक खेले 73 टेस्ट मैचों की 66 पारियों में धोनी को फास्ट बॉलर्स ने आउट किया है।

60 बार वे राइट आर्म पेस अटैक के आगे ढेर हुए, तो 13 बार उन्हें खब्बू तेज गेंदबाजों ने ठिकाने लगाया।

धोनी की कमजोरी रही है बाहर जाती गेंद के साथ छेड़छाड़ करना। इसी के कारण वे 20 बार विकेटकीपर द्वारा लपके गए।

टीम इंडिया के स्टार ओपनर वीरेंद्र सहवाग पेस अटैक के सामने कमजोर रहे हैं। अब तक 102 टेस्ट मैच खेल चुके वीरू 177 पारियों में से 121 बार तेज गेंदबाजी के आगे ढेर हुए हैं।

सीधे हाथ के तेज गेंदबाज वीरू के लिए सिरदर्द रहे हैं। राइट आर्म पेस अटैक का सामना करते हुए 105 बार वीरू ने अपना विकेट गंवाया।

उनका डिफेंस भी फास्ट बॉलिंग के खिलाफ कमजोर रहा। इसी कारण वे 20 बार क्लीन बोल्ड हुए और 17 बार lbw जज किए गए।

अब तक खेली 320 टेस्ट पारियों में से 190 बार उन्हें फास्ट बॉलर्स ने आउट किया।

इसमें से राइट आर्म फास्ट बॉलर्स ने उन्हें 169 बार ढेर किया है।

खब्बू तेज गेंदबाजों का सामना करते हुए 21 बार सचिन ने अपना विकेट गंवाया।

करियर में 53 बार क्लीन बोल्ड हुए तेंडुलकर का 45 बार फास्ट बॉलर्स ने स्टंप उखाड़ा है।

James Pattinson breathed fire for Australia before Sachin Tendulkar made his most ominous start to a Test innings in recent memory as India reached 84 for 2 in reply to the visitors' 380 at tea on day two in Chennai.

It is often said that no judgement should be made on a pitch until both teams have bowled on it, and the extra velocity of Australia's fast men brought life to the surface that had India's openers M Vijay and Virender Sehwag hopping about before both chopped a rampant Pattinson onto the stumps.

At 12 for 2 India were in some disarray, but Tendulkar punched his first two deliveries to the cover boundary, and with the composed Cheteshwar Pujara he succeeded in blunting Australia's attack for the remainder of the session while scoring at a healthy rate.

India's innings had been delayed until after lunch by the obduracy of the Australian tail. Michael Clarke went on from his overnight 103 not out to 130, going past Greg Chappell on Australia's list of run aggregates along the way, and Peter Siddle dead-batted to a stodgy but valuable 19 from 94 balls. Pattinson and Nathan Lyon then managed to extend the session, each ball a little victory for the pair. Lyon ultimately succumbed when his sweep was well held at leg slip.

R Ashwin again bowled teasingly, and Lyon's wicket gave him a new innings high-mark in Tests. Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh struck earlier in the morning, the latter improving somewhat on his diffident performance on the first day of the series. Redolent of a desert, the pitch required constant vigilance by the batsmen, and does not look like improving.

Vijay and Sehwag walked out for the start of the afternoon session aware that Australia's most threatening bowlers would be employed immediately. Mitchell Starc took the first over and bowled tidily without extracting his pet inswing to the right-hand batsmen, relying on the occasional short ball for the element of surprise.

At the other end Pattinson charged in for his first Test since a side strain removed him from Australia's attack in Adelaide last November. Clearly given licence to bowl at his fastest in short bursts by his captain Clarke, Pattinson touched 150kmph during a three-over stint that exhilarated everyone but the Indian opening batsmen.

Entering the match with modest domestic form, Vijay was beaten for pace by a full ball that tailed back fractionally and plucked out leg stump via the inside edge. Sehwag never seemed at home, and a late defensive prod on a ball angled back into him resulted in a dismissal that looked bizarre but also felt inevitable.

It was reminiscent of Graham Gooch's famed handled the ball dismissal in an Ashes Test at Old Trafford in 1993, only this time the batsman allowed the ball to drop onto the stumps rather than pushing it away with an illegal glove. Having worn his spectacles to the middle, Sehwag strolled off perhaps in search of a new optometrist.

Tendulkar marked his guard with few recent Test match runs behind him, and a clear pattern in his recent dismissals - the stumps were bound to be attacked. But he confronted Pattinson's first two balls with such assurance that the complexion of the innings changed almost immediately, Australia's bowlers and fielders given pause by the poise of an ageing master, as he set his soundest foundation for quite some time.

Pujara lost little by comparison, technically compact but never missing a chance to score, and together with Tendulkar he pushed India out of the worst of the danger. The only major tremor took place in the final over of the session, Tendulkar padding up to Lyon's offbreak and surviving a prolonged appeal for reasons known only to the umpire Marais Erasmus.

स्टंप्स तक भारत ने 3 विकेट गंवा कर 183 रन बनाए। ऑस्ट्रेलिया द्वारा पहली पारी में बनाए 380 रन के स्कोर से मेजबान अभी 198 रन पीछे है और उसके 7 विकेट सुरक्षित हैं।

वनडे सनसनी विराट कोहली ने तेंडुलकर का बखूबी साथ निभाते हुए नाबाद पचासा लगाया। वे 50 रन बना कर नॉटआउट रहे।

चेन्नई टेस्ट का पहले दिन जहां स्पिनर आर अश्विन का दबदबा रहा, वहीं दूसरे दिन ऑस्ट्रेलिया के तेज गेंदबाज जेम्स पैटिंसन ने अकेले मेजबान के तीन टॉप ऑर्डर बल्लेबाजों को चलता किया।

भारतीय पारी के तीनों विकेट पैटिंसन को मिले। उन्होंने सबसे पहले ओपनर मुरली विजय को 10 रन के निजी स्कोर पर आउट किया।

विजय के बाद नजर कमजोर होने के कारण विवादों में आए वीरेंद्र सहवाग भी महज 2 रन बना कर पैटिंसन का दूसरा शिकार बने।

गेंद जमीन से टकराने के बाद हवा में उछली और नीचे गिरते हुए स्टंप्स से टकरा गई।

चेन्नई टेस्ट के तीसरे दिन जब मैच शुरू हुआ तो न सिर्फ भारत बल्कि दुनिया भर की निगाहें सचिन तेंडुलकर पर लगी हुई थीं। सभी को उम्मीद थी कि सचिन सेंचुरी बनाकर कंगारुओं की छुट्टी कर देंगे लेकिन पहले ही घंटे में यह उम्मीद बेमानी साबित हुई जब मास्टर ब्लास्टर क्लीन बोल्ड हो गए।

इसके बाद कंगारुओं टीम इंडिया पर दबाव बनाने के इस प्रयास में थे कि जल्द से जल्द टीम इंडिया को समेट दिया जाए।

मैदान पर थे टीम इंडिया के कप्तान एमएस धोनी और विराट कोहली। विराट जहां संयम से खेल पारी को आगे बढ़ा रहे थे वहीं धोनी के दिमाग में कुछ और ही था।

धोनी ने कंगारू गेंदबाजों के खिलाफ आक्रामक रवैया अपनाया और टेस्ट में वन-डे जैसी पारी खेलना शुरू कर दी और देखते ही देखते टीम इंडिया ऑस्ट्रेलिया के स्कोर को पीछे छोड़ चुकी थी।

चेन्नई टेस्ट का तीसरा दिन टीम इंडिया के कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धोनी के नाम रहा। धोनी ने नाबाद दोहरा शतक ठोक टीम इंडिया को मजबूत स्थिति में पहुंचा दिया। तीसरे दिन का खेल खत्म होने पर धोनी 206 और भुवनेश्वर कुमार 16 रन बनाकर खेल रहे हैं, इससे पहले विराट कोहली ने भी सैकड़ा ठोक माही का साथ दिया था।

तीसरे दिन सचिन तेंडुलकर का विकेट जल्द गिर जाने के बाद विराट कोहली और धोनी ने टीम को संभाल लिया, दोनों ने शतकीय साझेदारी की इस दौरान कोहली ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ अपनी दूसरी टेस्ट सेंचुरी ठोक दी। हालांकि शतक बनाने के बाद एक खराब शॉट खेल कोहली ने अपना विकेट गंवा दिया।

तीसरे दिन टीम इंडिया को करारा झटका उस समय लगा जब सचिन तेंडुलकर को नाथन लियोन ने क्लीन बोल्ड कर दिया। सचिन कल के स्कोर में दस रन ही और जोड़ पाए। टीम इंडिया की सारी उम्मीदें अब कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धोनी पर टिकी हुई हैं।

अभी तक मैच दोनों ही टीमों के लिए खुला हुआ है। आज टीम इंडिया का प्रयास ऑस्ट्रेलियाई स्कोर को पीछे छोड़ बढ़त लेने का होगा वहीं कंगारू जल्द से जल्द भारत को ऑल आउट करना चाहेंगे।

Though the result seems like a foregone conclusion, with Henriques having only delayed the inevitable, the player isn't willing to give up yet.

आर. अश्विन की घातक गेंदबाजी (12/198) और कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धौनी के तूफानी दोहरे शतक (224) की बदौलत टीम इंडिया ने पहले टेस्ट मुकाबले में ऑस्ट्रेलिया को 8 विकेट से हरा दिया। महेंद्र सिंह धौनी को मैन ऑफ द मैच के पुरस्कार से नवाजा गया। इस जीत के साथ ही भारत चार टेस्ट मैचों की सीरीज में 1-0 से आगे हो गया।

इससे पहले खेल के अंतिम दिन आज ऑस्ट्रेलिया की दूसरी पारी 241 रनों पर सिमट गई। ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने पहली पारी में भारत को मिली 192 रनों की बढ़त के आधार पर टीम इंडिया को जीत के लिए 50 रनों का लक्ष्य दिया। टीम इंडिया ने इस लक्ष्य को 11.3 ओवरों में 2 विकेट के नुकसान पर हासिल कर लिया। सचिन तेंदुलकर 13 रन और चेतेश्वर पुजारा 8 रन बनाकर नाबाद रहे। दूसरी पारी में मुरली विजय ने 6 रन बनाए, जबकि वीरेंद्र सहवाग 19 रन बनाकर आउट हुए।

टीम इंडिया के कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धौनी ने चेन्नई में टेस्ट क्रिकेट में अपने पहले दोहरे शतक के दम पर ना सिर्फ टीम इंडिया को जीत दिलाई बल्कि अपने उन आलोचकों को भी करारा जवाब दिया जो उनके फॉर्म को लेकर तमाम सवाल खड़े करते आए हैं लेकिन बेहतरीन पारी और शानदार जीत के बाद भी मैन ऑफ द मैच धौनी बिल्कुल जमीन पर और हमेशा की तरह बिल्कुल कूल दिखा दिए। धौनी के मुताबिक दोहरा शतक तो दूर की बात है, उन्होंने तो यह तक कभी नहीं सोचा था कि वह टीम इंडिया के लिए कभी खेलेंगे।

मैच के बाद जब पुरस्कार वितरण के दौरान मैन ऑफ द मैच बने धौनी से रवि शास्त्री ने यह पूछा कि क्या उन्होंने कभी बचपन में उन्होंने सोचा था कि वह टेस्ट क्रिकेट में दोहरा शतक मारेंगे तो इस पर धौनी ने कहा, साफ तौर पर कहना चाहूंगा कि दोहरा शतक तो दूर की बात है, मैंने तो देश के लिए खेलने तक का सपना भी कभी नहीं देखा था। जाहिर तौर पर आईपीएल में चेन्नई सुपरकिंग्स के इस कप्तान के लिए अब चेन्नई का चिदंबरम स्टेडियम एक दूसरे घर के समान है। यहां के फैंस के जबरदस्त समर्थन पर धौनी ने कहा, मैं यहां के लोगों से बहुत प्रेम करता हूं। बेहतरीन दर्शक हैं यह। टेस्ट मैचों के लिए भारतीय दर्शकों में ऐसा उत्साह देखकर अच्छा लग रहा है। मैच के बाद धौनी ने सचिन और विराट कोहली की पहली पारी में जबरदस्त इनिंग की भी तारीफ की जबकि कप्तान ने अपने स्पिनर्स को भी जमकर सराहा जिसमें अश्विन सबसे ऊपर रहे।

भारत के खिलाफ पहला टेस्ट मुकाबला खत्म होने से पहले ही ऑस्ट्रेलिया के लिए एक बुरी खबर आ गई। उसके तेज गेंदबाज जैकसन बर्ड पीठ में दर्द के कारण जांच के लिए स्वदेश लौट रहे हैं। इस बात की पुष्टि करते हुए टीम के डॉक्टर पीटर ब्रुकनर ने बताया कि बर्ड ने यह शिकायत की थी कि उनकी पीठ के निचले हिस्से में दर्द है।

कोई खतरा मोल न लेते हुए प्रबंधन ने यही फैसला किया कि उन्हें चिकित्सीय सहायता के लिए स्वदेश भेज दिया जाए। मेडिकल रिपोर्ट आने के बाद ही यह फैसला किया जाएगा कि वे टीम इंडिया के खिलाफ टेस्ट सीरीज खेलने भारत आ पाएंगे या नहीं। उन्होंने बताया कि जब बर्ड ने पीठ के निचले हिस्से में दर्द की शिकायत की तो उनका शुरुआती उपचार किया गया, लेकिन ज्यादा आराम नहीं होने पर उन्हें वापस भेजने का फैसला किया गया।

दुबई। आईसीसी की ताजा वनडे रैंकिंग में भारत अब भी टॉप पर कायम है, जबकि टेस्ट रैंकिंग में एक स्थान की उछाल मिली है। न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ तीन मैचों की वनडे सीरीज 2-1 से जीतने वाली इंग्लैंड टीम को वनडे रैंकिंग में 2 प्वाइंट्स कम मिले हैं। उसकी रेटिंग प्वाइंट अब 117 है, जबकि इससे पहले भारत और इंग्लैंड की रेटिंग प्वाइंट बराबर थी। 119 रेटिंग प्वाइंट के साथ भारत वनडे रैंकिंग में टॉप पर है, जबकि इंग्लैंड दूसरे स्थान पर है।

ऑस्ट्रेलिया 116 रेटिंग प्वाइंट्स के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर है, जबकि दक्षिण अफ्रीका चौथे, श्रीलंका पांचवें, पाकिस्तान छठे, वेस्टइंडीज सातवें, न्यूजीलैंड आठवें, बांग्लादेश नौवें और जिम्बाब्वे दसवें स्थान पर है।

वहीं, आईसीसी टेस्ट रैंकिंग में टीम टीम इंडिया को एक स्थान का फायदा मिला है। वह पांचवें से चौथे स्थान पर आ गई है। दक्षिण अफ्रीका से तीन टेस्ट मैचों की सीरीज 3-0 से हारने के बाद पाकिस्तानी टीम को एक स्थान का नुकसान हुआ है और वह चौथे से पांचवें स्थान पर आ गई है। टेस्ट रैंकिंग में 128 अंकों के साथ दक्षिण अफ्रीका अब भी टॉप पर है। वहीं, 118 अंकों के साथ इंग्लैंड दूसरे स्थान पर है, जबकि 117 अंकों के साथ ऑस्ट्रेलिया तीसरे स्थान पर है।

श्रीलंका, वेस्टइंडीज, और न्यूजीलैंड क्रमश: छठे, सातवें और आठवें स्थान पर हैं।

भारत-ऑस्ट्रेलिया के बीच जारी पहले टेस्ट मुकाबले के तीसरे दिन रविवार को हरभजन सिंह और ऑस्ट्रेलियाई विकेटकीपर मैथ्यू वाडे के बीच कुछ गरमागरमी देखने को मिली थी। दोनों बहसबाजी करने में लगे हुए थे। यहां तक कि बीच-बचाव करने कंगारू कप्तान माइकल क्लार्क और शेन वाटसन भी आ गए। दूसरी तरफ, भारतीय कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धौनी भी हरभजन सिंह को समझाने में जुट गए, लेकिन वाडे की मानें तो ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं हुआ था।

मैच के बाद जब वाडे से इस घटना के बारे में सवाल किया गया तो उन्होंने साफ-साफ कहा कि मैदान पर उनके और हरभजन के बीच कोई मतभेद नहीं हुआ। उन्होंने कहा कि मुझे लगा कि वे एलबीडब्ल्यू आउट हैं, इसलिए मैंने अपील कर दी, लेकिन अंपायर ने उसे नकार दिया। इसके बाद हरभजन ने सिर्फ इतना ही कहा कि गेंद लाइन के बाहर थी। बस इतना ही हुआ था और कुछ नहीं।

जब उनसे पूछा गया कि जब इतनी ही बात थी तो माइकल क्लार्क और शेन वाटसन बीच में क्या करने आए थे। इस सवाल का जवाब देते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि ओह! तो टीवी स्क्रीन में वे दोनों भी आ गए, लेकिन आप बात मानें, वो सिर्फ एक मैदान पर घटने वाली क्रिकेट की छोटी घटना थी। हमदोनों के बीच ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं हुआ था।

गौरतलब है कि भारतीय पारी के 106वें ओवर में अंपायर ने एलबीडब्ल्यू की अपील नकार दी थी। हरभजन के लिए वो पहली गेंद ही थी। अंपायर के नकारने के बाद ऑस्ट्रेलियाई विकेटकीपर वाडे ने कुछ टिप्पणी की, जिसपर हरभजन भड़क उठे। दोनों के बीच कुछ देर तक बहसबाजी होती रही।

उप्पल में हो रहा बॉर्डर गावस्कर ट्रॉफी सीरीज के दूसरे मुकाबले को मेहमान टीम के कप्तान माइकल क्लार्क ने रोचक बना दिया। हैदराबाद के राजीव गांधी इंटरनेशनल स्टेडियम में हो रहे मैच के पहले दिन ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने पहली पारी 237 पर 9 विकेट के स्कोर पर घोषित की। दिन का खेल खत्म होने तक भारत ने बिना विकेट गंवाए 5 रन बना लिए थे। ओपनर वीरेंद्र सहवाग और मुरली विजय क्रमशः 4 और 0 के स्कोर पर नॉट आउट रहे।

क्लार्क ने डाली इंडियंस पर गुगली
