1. Go to YouTube and open the video which you want to download.

2. Now in the address bar, just replace youtube with voobys as shown in below pic and press Enter.

4. Depending on your Internet connection speed, a security warning pop-up will comes up. Just click "I accept the risk and want to run this application" and than click Run Button.

Note: It's not necessary but depending on your browser and the version of Java software installed in your PC, you may also see a notification like this.

5. Now your browser may take few seconds and will show you different format / quality of the video which you can download. At YouTube, the videos are available in different formats like 240p, 360p, 480p, 720P, 1020p HD. If the video which you are trying to download is available in different format / quality, the voobys website will also show you multiple download links with different video formats / quality as shown at below pic.

6. Whichever video format / quality you want (360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p), you can download that video by clicking on the link and the downloading will start immediately.


Note: I recommend to download only MP4 and FLV videos.

No. Still not successful even after I did what you suggested.
There was no error message this time, unlike last time.
The black and white image appeared but the "Download Video" icon in green colour does not appear.
May be the settings in my computer are preventing this.
I have installed Kaspersky anti virus and I still use the old Windows XP on my 7 year old laptop.

This trick does not affect by anti virus or windows version. be sure there are latest version of "java" installed.
internet connection may be slow

Internet connections are erratic in speed at my end.
Java is installed but I don't know the version.
It was installed by my computer service engineer some months ago when he reformatted my 7 year old laptop's hard disk and upgraded my Ram to 2 GB, and reloaded all the essential software.
I am not too knowledgeable about all these technical things.
I will try again later

Downloading without installing tool is like what Aspundir said. Thanks for useful reply! I used to use it a few times but it's kinda complicated, don't u think?
Many ppl like to install stuff once but it's much convenient for later uses. Av Tube or Internet Download Manager, for ex.

I wonder why You Tube itself does not offer this option to download their clips.
Don't they know that so many third party options exist to download their videos?
Why allow others the facility to advertise various products when they can do it themselves?
I would like it if there was an icon to click on so that while playing the video it simultaneously downloads the video in a format that the user chooses.
I won't mind it if, as a price for this facility, they bother you with a short video ad, which you must compulsorily watch before you can download.
