`Sivasubramaniam had role in Rajkumar kidnap'

CHENNAI March 1. The Home Secretary, Naresh Gupta, today charged that the detained journalist, Sivasubramaniam, had a deep nexus with the sandalwood smuggler, Veerappan, and that he had a role in the abduction of the Kannada film actor, Rajkumar, two years ago.
``A lot of incriminating information came to light during interrogation of Mr. Sivasubramaniam by the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu police'', the Home Secretary said in a statement here. His nexus with Veerappan and his role, along with the Tamil extremist groups, TNLA and TNRT, in the abduction of the filmstar in 2000 ``are becoming clearer''.
Mr. Sivasubramaniam also played a role in the kidnap of another journalist, Netrikkan Mani, and lawyer Krishnaswamy in June 1998. He was acting as a conduit between the Tamil extremists and outfits such as the TNRT and the TNLA.
