4. Email Chains
I’m sure you must have received an email that sounded like this…
TURN $6.00 into $60,000… READ THIS TO FIND OUT HOW!!!!!! READING THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!!
And in the email, the sender explains the lucrative opportunity and you are asked to send $6 (or close to that) to the first person in the list given in that email. Sometimes they will request you to make the payment by mail and at other times via PayPal. Then you need to add your name to the bottom of the list and forward the email to as many people as you can. They say that after a while you will be amazed at the huge amounts that will be credited to your account!
The truth is that the list of names in the list is manipulated to keep the top name (that of the scam creator or his friends) on top permanently. Pyramid type chain letter schemes are illegal in most countries. So, if you receive such an email please do not respond, unless you want to risk being charged with internet fraud.
