Wonderful information about the horrible practice of execution of criminals in different parts of the world over a period of several millennia. Thanks for the text and pictures.

I would also like to share some information about the practice called "to decimate" or "decimation". In ancient times in some parts of the world, when a ruler attacked and conquered an enemy territory, he used to unleash terror amongst the people. To do this, he used to assemble the citizens in columns and rows in an open area where he ordered execution of every tenth person in the column or the row. In this way, one tenth of the population was hacked to death to teach a lesson to the enemy.
