The Tailor's Needle

A tailor was at work. He took a piece of cloth and with a pair of shining, costly, scissors, he cut the cloth into various bits.

Then he put the pair of scissors at his feet. Then he took a small needle and thread and started to sew the bits of cloth, into a fine shirt. When the spell of sewing was over, he stuck the needle on to his turban.

The tailor's son who was watching it asked him: "Father, the scissors are costly and look so beautiful. But you throw them down at your feet. This needle is worth almost nothing; you can get a dozen for an Anna. Yet, you place it carefully on your head itself. Is there any reason for this illogical Behaviour?"

"Yes, my son. The scissors have their function, no doubt; but they only cut the cloth into bits. The needle, on the contrary, unites the bits and enhances the value of the cloth. Therefore, the needle to me is more precious and valuable. The value of a thing depends on its utility, son, not on its cost-price or appearance."

Similarly, there are two classes of people in the world-those who create dissensions and disharmony, who separate man from man; and those who bring about peace and harmony, who unite people.

*******
The former are generally the rich people, powerful politicians and kings; the latter are generally the poor devotees of God, the penniless wandering monks, and mendicants. The Lord makes use of both to carry on his function of providing the field for the evolution of individual souls. He throws down on the dust the mighty kings and millionaires who create wars and disharmony; and He keeps the poor, pious devotee over His own head. In His eyes the scale of values is entirely

different!

This is one of my favourite stories. I first read it a couple of years ago when it perfectly described a group that I was managing at the time. We had just come through a challenging period and this became our theme that illustrated our victory against the odds.

So, what’s the story of the Donkey and the Well?

Once upon a time, there was a donkey.
It was a stupid, stubborn old donkey and even the farmer who owned it didn’t like him.

The farmer owned a large property and one day he heard in the distance the loud, distinctive “eye-ore, eye-ore” of the donkey. He wondered what the stupid donkey had done now, so he looked all over his property until at last he found the animal at the bottom of an old abandoned well.

Exasperated, the farmer rang his neighbours and asked them each to bring a shovel. He’d had enough of the stupid donkey, so he had decided to bury it in the well.

All of his friends came over and together they started to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey protested loudly, braying with all of his might, but after about 10 minutes, he stopped.

The farmers kept shovelling.

After a while, someone decided to have a look into the well to see what had happened to the donkey. What he saw astonished him.

Instead of being buried, the donkey would dodge the incoming dirt, standing on the ever-increasing mound.

Now the mission changed and the farmers went from trying to bury the donkey to trying to save him, shovelling more and more dirt into the abandoned well until he jumped out of the top victorious.

Upon his release, the farmers all dropped their shovels and applauded the old stubborn beast with a newfound admiration.

There are times in life when it seems as though we are that donkey. Trapped and feeling as though life is trying to bury us. Don’t go under, but continue to find a way to overcome your challenges one at a time until you too emerge victorious.

MORNING DOSE

After being married for thirty years....a wife asked her husband to describe her.

He looked at her slowly...then said, "You're A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H.... I, J, K."

She asks..... "What does that mean?"

He said, "Adorable, Beautiful, Cute, Delightful, Elegant, Foxy, Gorgeous, Hot.

She smiled happily and said...."Oh, that's so lovely..... What about I, J, K?"

He said, "I'm Just Kidding!"

His eye is still swollen....but it will get better.............

One Glass of Milk

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?" "You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness." He said..... "Then I thank you from my heart."

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Year's later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly ! was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to room. Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case. After a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words..... "Paid in full with one glass of milk"

Signed Dr. Howard Kelly. Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, God, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands."

This is so beautiful I had to share it. The pic and excerpt are from an Indian newspaper.

“Two blind people wanted to drink water at the RagiGudda temple, Bangalore.
When they were unable to operate the tap, this mother monkey opened the tap for them, allowed them to drink water, drank some water herself and then closed the tap before leaving the scene.”

Sometimes it takes a beast to remind us what humanity is.

Love & Marriage

A student asks a teacher, "What is love?"
The teacher said, "in order to answer your question, go to the wheat field and choose the biggest wheat and come back. But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick."

The student went to the field, go thru first row, he saw one big wheat, but he wonders..may be there is a bigger one later.
Then he saw another bigger one... But may be there is an even bigger one waiting for him.

Later, when he finished more than half of the wheat field, he start to realize that the wheat is not as big as the previous one he saw, he know he has missed the biggest one, and he regretted.

So, he ended up went back to the teacher with empty hand. The teacher told him, "..this is love.. You keep looking for a better one, but when later you realize, you have already miss the person.."

"What is marriage then?" the student asked.

The teacher said, "in order to answer your question, go to the corn field and choose the biggest corn and come back. But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick."
The student went to the corn field, this time he is careful not to repeat the previous mistake, when he reach the middle of the field, he has picked one medium corn that he feel satisfy, and come back to the teacher.

The teacher told him, "This time you bring back a corn.. You look for one that is just nice, and you have faith and believe this is the best one you get..

This is marriage."

The Professor's Jar

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him when the class began; he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar, and shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things... God, your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favourite passions... and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter... like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else... the small stuff.
"Now, if you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. "Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled and said, "I'm glad you asked." The coffee just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Agnipath- Harivansh Rai Bacchan ( excerpt from Madhushala )

Amitabh’s father’s writen this very poem is about
Zindadeeli, Khumaari, Jaat-Mahenaut, and non-dependancy !

There are many sayings revealing the sense about,….

Apna haath Jagannath

Himmaat e marda,…... madad e khuda

Ther's no substitute for the hard work !

and,..... God helps those,….. who helps themselves

and, that’s da USB and soul of this poem.

It says don’t depend on any relatives, neither yr wealthy-filthy sons, no matter yrs wealthy uncle, aunts, father, neighbors, relatives or even yr kids,.....

It’s a test of yrs,.. so keep walking on fire, alone,.. unassisted for any help from any,…

Yr life is a challenge of yr own,…. accept it,...face it,.. and keep walking on the path of fire,....loaded and with full responsibilty,...

no matter, you have kids and uncle standing just next to you, all well-settled and very well wealthy,..… Carrying millions,…..is useless for you. Don't lean or depend on them,...

Make yr own path and keep continue going all independent all the way,.. till last breathe,..... and that’s yr test, destiny, should be the only yrs target and the focus.

I know you are loaded,.. full of tears and troubles, woes and worries, sadness and sorrows,.. Sho? Don’ care,.. don’t unload yrself,….keep walking
You are not supposed to be tired,..... you are not supposed to step backwards,....You are not supposed to ask for any assistance from any relative,.. Promise me,...U will never do that !

What a kool scene it is,..... that human is walking here loaded,...alreday fully dipped in tears, perspiration and blood,.....and still walking on the path of fire,.... keep walking,... Keep walking,..
Bravo,.. Bravo,. Bravo,... What a great scene it is !!

Initially, when Lord offered human the planet earth,….... it was all plain blank, ( just like that lonely moon ) empty,….. and he told him,.. this is yr “ Karmabhoomi” create and make all you can,
create and decorate and make it worth living,…. and sky is the limit,..
and today we human being have proved it well,…......made roads, gardens, farms, bldgs, bridges, cars, planes, cinemas, golf-courses and made it a heaven-like worth living in,
with all the facilities and amenities,........ while previously,…… it was an all empty n’ strange planet, just like Mars or Venus !!

So, that’s the theorem here,… and that movie Agnipath was centered
on this core theorem of Harivanshrai bachchan’s this very poem.
