थिसारा परेरा - 675,000 डॉलर (सनराइजर्स हैदराबाद)

श्रीलंका के ऑलराउंडर थिसारा परेरा का बेस प्राइज महज 50,000 डॉलर का रखा गया था। लेकिन उनके टेलेंट ने उन्हें 675,000 डॉलर की कीमत दिलवाई। परेरा के लिए चेन्नई सुपरकिंग्स, राजस्थान रॉयल्स और रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बेंगलुरु ने भी बोली लगाई थी, लेकिन हैदराबाद ने सबसे बड़ी कीमत बोल कर परेरा को अपने साथ कर लिया।

बाएं हाथ के बल्लेबाज और सीधे हाथ के गेंदबाज परेरा का टी-20 में लोहा दुनिया मान चुकी है। 151 का बैटिंग स्ट्राइक रेट और 18.9 का बॉलिंग स्ट्राइक रेट उन्हें एक परफेक्ट टी-20 प्लेयर बनाता है। अब तक खेले 73 टी-20 मैचों में वे 59 विकेट ले चुके हैं और 89 चौके-छक्के लगा चुके हैं।

गेम चेंजर परफॉर्मेंस

वैसे तो परेरा के खेल में निरंतरता देखने को मिली है, लेकिन ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ 28 जनवरी 2013 को मेलबर्न में हुए टी-20 में उन्होंने मैच विनिंग परफॉर्मेंस देकर सबको अपना फैन बना लिया। उनके ऑलराउंड परफॉर्मेंस की बदौलत मेहमान श्रीलंका ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया को उसी के घर पर 2-0 से हराया था।

परेरा ने पहले बैटिंग में कमाल दिखाते हुए महज 15 गेंदों में 3 चौके और 2 छक्के लगाते हुए नॉटआउट 35 रन बनाए थे। उसके बाद गेंद से कमाल करते हुए उन्होंने महज 25 रन देकर कप्तान जॉर्ज बैली का कीमती विकेट चटकाया था। इसी प्रदर्शन के लिए उन्हें मैन ऑफ द मैच चुना गया।

टी-20 क्रिकेट का खेल जितना तेज और रोमांच पैदा करने वाला है, उतने ही अनोखे और बिरले इसके रिकॉर्ड्स हैं। गेंदबाजों के लिए सबसे चैलेंजिंग फॉर्मेट में किसी भी प्रकार का रिकॉर्ड बनाना वाकई अद्भुत है।

किंग्स इलेवन पंजाब की मालकिन ऐसे ही एक कारनामे को देख कर पंजाबी जाट मनप्रीत गोनी पर फिदा हो गईं। चेन्नई के फाइव स्टार होटल में हुई आईपीएल-6 की नीलामी में किंग्स इलेवन पंजाब ने इस स्टार फास्ट बॉलर को 5 लाख डॉलर (लगभग 2.66 करोड़ रुपए) में खरीदा।

मनप्रीत गोनी इससे पहले डेक्कन चार्जर्स और चेन्नई सुपरकिंग्स के लिए अपना जलवा बिखेर चुके हैं। इस साल वे झप्पी देने के लिए मशहूर प्रिटी जिंटा की टीम के लिए जी जान लगाएंगे।

महज 37 फर्स्ट क्लास मैचों में 121 विकेट चटका चुके मनप्रीत गेंद के नाम टी-20 क्रिकेट का एक ऐसा रिकॉर्ड दर्ज है, जिसका इस बॉलर्स के लिए सबसे चैलेंजिंग फॉर्मेट में दुनिया का कोई अन्य गेंदबाज नहीं कर पाया है।

सबसे ज्यादा मेडन

टी-20 क्रिकेट में बिना रन दिए पूरा एक ओवर डालने से बड़ी एक गेंदबाज के लिए कोई उपलब्धि नहीं होती। जहां बल्लेबाज हर गेंद को बाउंड्री पार पहुंचाने की फिराक में होता है, वहां बिना एक भी रन खर्च किए 3 ओवर डालने का कारनामा पंजाब के मनप्रीत डोमेस्टिक क्रिकेट में कर चुके हैं।

मध्यप्रदेश के खिलाफ 25 मार्च 2012 को मुंबई में हुए टी-20 मैच के दौरान गोनी ने 4 ओवर की गेंदबाजी में से 3 ओवर मेडन डाले थे। उस मैच में उन्होंने महज 5 रन देते हुए 3 विकेट चटकाए थे।

टी-20 क्रिकेट में 2 मेडन ओवर डालने का काम तो कई बॉलर्स ने किया है, लेकिन 3 मेडन फेंकने वाले गोनी दुनिया के एकमात्र गेंदबाज हैं।

आतिशी बल्लेबाजी से बने हीरो

साल 2008 में गोनी महेंद्र सिंह धोनी की चेन्नई सुपरकिंग्स टीम से आईपीएल में खेले थे। दिल्ली डेयरडेविल्स के खिलाफ एक अहम मुकाबले में उन्होंने अपनी आतिशी बल्लेबाजी से चेन्नई को जीत दिलाई थी।

उस मैच के निर्णायक ओवर में चेन्नई टीम को जीत के लिए 15 रनों की दरकार थी। दिल्ली के कप्तान वीरेंद्र सहवाग ने अपने स्पिनर शोएब मलिक को मोर्चे पर लगाया।

मलिक को सामने देखते ही गोनी के चेहरे पर मुस्कान आ गई। उन्होंने पहली ही गेंद पर जोरदार छक्का लगाया। इस शॉट से दबाव में आए मलिक ने अगली गेंद वाइड डाल दी। अब चेन्नई के पास एक एक्स्ट्रा रन के साथ अतिरिक्त गेंद भी थी। अगली बॉल पर गोनी ने बेहतरीन चौका जड़ा। इन दो बाउंड्रीज ने मैच चेन्नई की झोली में डाल दिया था।

शिल्पा की राजस्थान रॉयल्स पर 98.5 करोड़ का जुर्माना
नई दिल्ली [जागरण ब्यूरो]। इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग [आइपीएल] के पूर्व कमिश्नर ललित मोदी की टीम माने जाने वाली राजस्थान रॉयल्स पर फेमा का शिंकजा कस गया है। प्रवर्तन निदेशालय [ईडी] के आरोपों को सही ठहराते हुए फेमा एडजुकेटिंग अथॉरिटी ने राजस्थान रॉयल्स पर 98.5 करोड़ रुपये का जुर्माना लगाया है। पिछले साल अगस्त में ईडी ने राजस्थान रॉयल्स को फेमा का उल्लंघन कर 60 करोड़ रुपये की विदेशी मुद्रा लाने के आरोप में कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किया था। नियम के मुताबिक एडजुकेटिंग अथॉरिटी फेमा उल्लंघन की राशि का तीन गुना तक जुर्माना लगा सकती है।

ईडी के जांच अधिकारियों और राजस्थान रॉयल्स की दलील सुनने के बाद फेमा एडजुकेटिंग अथॉरिटी ने जुर्माने की रकम 45 दिन के भीतर जमा करने का आदेश दिया है। राजस्थान रॉयल्स ने इसको फेमा अपीली न्यायाधिकरण में चुनौती देने का फैसला किया है। सूत्रों के अनुसार दो साल की जांच और सुनवाई के बाद यह फैसला आया है। दरअसल एडजुकेटिंग अथॉरिटी ने ईडी के तीन अलग-अलग कारण बताओ नोटिस पर जुर्माने का फैसला सुनाया है, जो कुल 98.5 करोड़ रुपये के हैं। इनमें राजस्थान रॉयल्स के मालिक जयपुर आइपीएल क्रिकेटप्राइवेट लिमिटेड [जेआइपीएल] और इसके निदेशकों को 50 करोड़ रुपये, जबकि मॉरिशस के ईएम स्पोर्टिग होल्डिंग और इसके निदेशकों को 34 करोड़ रुपये जमा करने का आदेश दिया गया है। साथ ही ब्रिटेन के मेसर्स एनडी इन्वेस्टमेंट्स और इसके निदेशकों को 14.5 करोड़ रुपये का जुर्माना भरने को कहा गया है।

इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग 2013 के लिए खिलाड़ियों की नीलामी का दौर जारी है। मुंबई इंडियंस की नीता अंबानी का दिल जहां कंगारुओं पर अटका है, वहीं प्रिटी जिंटा ने पंजाबी पुत्तर मनप्रीत गोनी के लिए दीवानगी दिखाई।

हर फ्रेंचाइजी अपने साथ बेस्ट खिलाड़ियों को सस्ते से सस्ते में खरीदना चाहता है।

इन सब उथल-पुथल के बीच आईपीएल को एक नया मिलियनेयर खिलाड़ी मिल गया। ऑस्ट्रेलिया के धाकड़ ऑलराउंडर ग्लेन मैक्सवेल को मुंबई इंडियंस ने 1 मिलियन डॉलर में खरीद कर सनसनी मचाई।

किसी को उम्मीद नहीं थी कि इस उभरते खिलाड़ी को इतनी बड़ी कीमत पर खरीदा जाएगा। 2 लाख डॉलर्स के बेस प्राइज से शुरू हुई बोली 10 लाख डॉलर तक पहुंची।

मैक्सवेल को अपना बनाने के लिए सबसे पहला हाथ नीता अंबानी ने उठाया। सीनियर अंबानी की पत्नी को नई टीम सनराइजर्स हैदराबाद ने चुनौती देने की कोशिश जरूर की, लेकिन वे सफल नहीं हो सके।

नीता ने पहले 3 लाख डॉलर की बोली लगाई। फिर सनराइजर्स के मालिकों ने तपाक से इसमें 25 हजार डॉलर जोड़ते हुए अपनी दावेदारी 3.25 लाख डॉलर्स पर पेश कर दी।

अब मुकाबला गरम होने लगा। नीता अंबानी ने अपनी जिद दिखाते हुए बोली 3 लाख से 3.5 लाख डॉलर कर दी। मुंबई को लगा कि कहीं मैक्सवेल हाथ से निकल न जाएं, इसलिए उन्होंने तुरंत ही 5 लाख डॉलर कर दिया।

हैदराबाद और मुंबई 25-25 हजार डॉलर बढ़ाते हुए मैक्सवेल को 1 मिलियन डॉलर तक ले गई और नीता अंबानी ने इस जंग में बाजी मार ली।

In a continuation of their auction strategy, Chennai Super Kings have beefed up their bowling department further by signing five Indian uncapped bowlers. The players are UP fast bowlers Imtiaz Ahmed and Ankit Rajpoot, Haryana quick Mohit Sharma, Karnataka pacer Ronit More and Tamil Nadu left-arm spinner R Karthikeyan.

Imtiaz is the most experienced of the lot with 15 first-class matches to his name. In the Ranji Trophy this season, Imtiaz was the leading wicket-taker from Uttar Pradesh taking 37 from nine matches at an average of 25.45, including three five-wicket hauls. He was with the Pune Warriors in IPL 2011 but did not get a game.

His UP team-mate Rajpoot made his first-class debut this season against Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy and collected 31 wickets from seven matches at an average of 18.80. He has not played limited-overs domestic matches so far.

Mohit played eight Ranji matches this season, taking 37 wickets, averaging 23.24 runs per wicket. Mohit has also played six List A matches, the last one being a warm-up match against England XI in January before the five-match ODI series. He took two wickets in the match, of Ian Bell and Craig Kieswetter, in eight overs.

More made his first-class debut this season playing two matches, and also has seven List A and one domestic Twenty20 to his name. The lone spinner among the new signings, Karthikeyan, plays for TI Cycles in the first division league of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.

Stephen Fleming, Super Kings' coach, had said two days before the auction that the team would focus on local seam bowling options. At the auction on Sunday, Super Kings bought three quicks - Dirk Nannes, Ben Laughlin and Jason Holder, allrounder Chris Morris and spinner Akila Dananjaya.

Legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram on Monday stepped down from the post of mentor and bowling coach of IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders citing personal reasons.

Akram has been an integral part of the team for the past three seasons and also been a part of the core team along with chief coach Trevor Bayliss and captain Gautam Gambhir that helped in devising the strategy for the champion side.




According to team management, Akram has expressed his desire to spend more time with his family as his two sons Taimur and Akbar are barely in their teens.

Akram has been leaving out of suitcase for a number of years now due to his increased media commitments as well as the hectic travelling and camps related to Indian Premier League.

Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting will replace Harbhajan Singh as captain of the Mumbai Indians for the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League , starting on April 3.



Pointing, who retired from international cricket late last year, was bought by Mumbai Indians at a base price of US$ 400,000 during the IPL players' auction held in Chennai earlier this month.



Mumbai Indians said in a statement that decision to name Ponting as the skipper for the forthcoming season was taken after consultation with its newly-appointed chief mentor Anil Kumble, head coach John Wright and icon player Tendulkar.

"Ricky has a lot of experience to lead a competitive and a high-profile side like Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Sachin readily agreed to my suggestion that Mumbai Indians is best served when he leads the batting unburdened by the rigours of captaincy. It was our idea (Sachin and mine) to bring in Ricky as the captain of the Mumbai Indians," Kumble said in the statement.

On his new role in the Mumbai Indians team, Ponting said: "It's a huge honour and I thank Mrs Ambani and the Mumbai Indians management for the faith they have reposed in my abilities.
"Mumbai Indians has the potent combination of Indian and international cricketers and I look forward to leading the team to play to its full potential."
Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani added: "On behalf of the Mumbai Indians family, I welcome Ricky Ponting to the team as the leader of the side. Today we have world's two biggest cricketing greats in Sachin and Ricky, and I am sure the duo will be an inspiration for the youngsters in the team.

IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore appointed Virat Kohli as their captain for the upcoming sixth edition of Indian Premier League.

Kohli succeeds former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori, who was at the helm during last season.

Kohli's appointment follows a productive IPL VI auction in which RCB strengthened their bowling line-up significantly and added capable all-rounders to increase the amount of flexibility in the selection of the playing squad.

"We are delighted to announce Virat as our captain. His hunger to learn, lead, motivate and set an example is unquestionable," team owner Vijay Mallya was quoted as saying in a press release.

Virat is the 11th highest run-scorer in overall IPL history with 1639 runs and a strike rate of 119.28.

He has scored eight half centiries and is also the 3rd highest run scorer in Champions League T20 history.

"Glad to be appointed captain of RCB. I thank the owners for reposing their faith and I am looking forward to the challenge and the responsibility to carry the team to greater heights," Kohli stated.
