Default England Goalless against Algeria

England faced unsatisfactory 0-0 draw with Algeria on Friday. This put them under pressure to beat Slovenia in their final World Cup group game.

United States and Slovenia drawing 2-2 earlier, Group C is finely balanced. Slovenia has four points, England and USA on two and Algeria with one.

It was a poor performance from Capello's team with players looking exhausted and devoid of spark. The big reports ahead of the game was the discharging of West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green after his mistake against the USA with David James taking over.

Gareth Barry struggled and was largely ineffective after returning from an ankle injury. Steven Gerrard was the first to trouble Algeria team with a cross-cum-shot that 'keeper M'bohi Rais Ouheb, prefered to Faouzi Chaouchi after the 1-0 loss to Slovenia.

The game was played in the 11 minitues he knock clear a looping cross on his goal line. It was a knock by him to evade the team from danger.

Algeria was seeing plenty of the ball and England couldn't get going. It was Cepello was none too satisfied and angrily pacing the dugout.

Finally Gerrard got a shot on target near gathering the ball in the box following some nice build-up play.

He unleashed a left-footed drive but badly the keeper saved.

Capello didn't look much better after coming out to start for the second-half. Lampard and Gerrard flashed some interest when they played together .

Heskey had a nice chance for penalty area with 18 minutes but his shot was deflected towards the corner. And finally England were detained to a goalless draw by Algeria .

Default Maxico wins With 2-0

2006 runners-up and the 1998 world champions France were left staggering on the World Cup first round elimination on Thursday at Polokwane when they slumped to a 2-0 beat against Mexico.

Match in detail:

At Peter Mokaba Stadium Veteran Cuauhtemoc Blanco changed a late penalty to settle the victory after replacement striker, and Javier Hernandez had put the Central Americans forward 64 minutes into the Group A showdown.

Mexico's first win over France left them four points ahead of Rustenburg fight on June 22 and both will move forward to the next round by drawing.

France plays with South Africa as both have one point and if both wins and the other game bring a positive result then goal difference could come into play.

Yoann Gourcuff replaced by Florent Malouda in the French line-up while in the Mexico side defender Hector Morena came in for Paul Aguilar.

The Central Americans were more intimidating as the halfway point of the starting half approached with a William Gallas obstructs taking the sting out of a move and Carlos Salcido firing past goalkeeper Hugo Lloris only to miss the goal.

Lloris versus Salcido again on 27 minutes with the French goalkeeper doing well to drive away a hard, low drive after the Mexican cut in from the left flank helped by timorous defending.

Mexico endured a bluster when Vela limped came for Pablo Barrera and put Lloris under pressure almost instantly from a cross that the goalkeeper unpersuasively punched away.

During first-half stoppage time Jeremy Toulalan joined Franco in the referee's book, ruling him out of the South Africa fixture as he was also vigilance against Uruguay.

Nicolas Anelka is replaced by Andre-Pierre Gignac at half-time and the referee was the very busy in as second half extended by showing yellow cards to Mexicans Morena and Efrain Juarez.

When Hernandez raced on to a lobbed Rafael Marquez pass
Mexico broke the deadlock on 64 minutes, rounded calmly and Lloris knocked the ball into the net.

Default FIFA decided to replace France keeper Carrasso

The French Football Federation said on Wednesday that France goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso has been lined out of the World Cup, Carrasso out with a thigh injury.

He pulled a left thigh muscle in training on Monday. The French Football Federation said on a statement that he has to miss the remainder of the tournament.

Carrasso was France’s number three keeper after Hugo Lloris and Steve Mandanda. His scan showed he would have to stay out of action for a month.

So FIFA decided to replace him and allow injury replacements under exceptional conditions. French Football Federation said “in case of this happened France decided to call up Stephane Ruffier.Ruffier will arrive in South Africa on Thursday.”

France is going to face Mexico in their second Group A match on Thursday in Polokwane. Hosts South Africa are also in their group.
