There was an old man from Peru
who dreamed he was eating his shoe.
He awoke one dark night
from a terrible fright
to discover his dream had come true.

पेरू देश की बात जहाँ पर एक बुज़ुर्ग रहा करते थे,
सपनों में वह अक्सर अपने जूते खा जाया करते थे,
इक दिन सन्निपात में,
वह जगे अँधेरी रात में,
देखा अपने ही जूतों को वो मुंह में दाब कचरते थे.

फेसबुक अवतार में उसको हासिल हुआ ईनाम.
प्यारा सा इक पिल्ला था,
बिलकुल बागड़बिल्ला था,
एडोल्फ़ नाम अपनाया उसने और हुआ बदनाम.

निम्नलिखित लिमरिक में नये घर में स्थापित नाश्ता बार (ब्रेकफास्ट बार) को परिभाषित किया जाना था. आइये देखें कि दृष्य ने कैसा पलटा खाया:

There is a breakfast bar in our new home –
My wife had it detailed in chrome.
A bar? To make trouble,
I ordered a double !
[She gave me espresso with foam]

घर हुआ तैयार जिसकी थी किचन में “बार”
पत्नी की अनुकम्पा से थी चाँदी सी चमकार
बार? दुआ करो न हो समस्या
मैंने जब डबल का ऑर्डर दिया
[वो झागदार कॉफ़ी ले आयीं करने को सत्कार]

(डबल = शराब का बड़ा पैग)
