Clean Ganga Mission : 2020
To contradict the overhead cited difficulties Ganga Action Plan or GAP was a program commenced by Government of India in April 1985 in alignment to decrease the contamination burden on the river. The program was commenced with much fanfare, but it failed to decline the contamination grade in the stream, after spending 901.71 crore (approx. 1010) rupees over a time span of 15 years. It is not only to double-check 'aviral dhara' (continuous flow of the stream stream), as being claimed by some NGOs, but furthermore to double-check nirmal dhara (clean and contamination free flow). The World Bank has furthermore pledged India not less than $1 billion as aid for cleansing up the very powerfully polluted Ganga in the first phase.
