Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today demanded an inquiry into the assets acquired by BJP president Nitin Gadkari in the last 15 years. "I am ready for an inquiry into my assets and want that those acquired by Gadkari should also be probed," Digvijay said at a campaign rally for Devendra Sadho, the Congress candidate for the June 12 Assembly by-election in Maheshwar. He further alleged that BJP President spent Rs 16 crore on the wedding of his son, where two lakh people were fed. Taking a swipe at yoga guru Baba Ramdev, the Congress leader said that before talking about black money, he should reply to the notice for Rs 80 crore tax sent by Income Tax Department and another for Rs 40 crore evasion of sales tax, sent by the Uttarakhand government. By-poll at Maheshwar was necessitated by elevation of the sitting MLA to Rajya Sabha.

The row over RK Laxman's cartoon relating to the 1965 anti-Hindi agitation by Tamils deepened with key UPA ally DMK demanding it be removed from the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) class XII text book. DMK chief M Karunanidhi joined MDMK's Vaiko's protest against the cartoon. "The 1938 and 1965 anti-Hindi agitations are moments of pride for DMK. The cartoon ridiculing such a movement would infuriate Tamils. Therefore, the Centre should immediately intervene and ensure it is removed from text books to respect Tamils' sentiments," Karunanidhi said on Saturday.

Indians need an urgent dose of humor and tolerance. Its sad to see erstwhile cartoons evoking such emotions. Either we have lost all our tolerance or our sanity. Its really sad to see such news coming up in a democracy.

बिहार को लेकर गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी द्वारा दिए बयान से नाराज़ बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने पलटवार करते हुए मोदी को अपना घर संभालने की सलाह दी और कहा कि वह (मोदी) पहले अपना दामन देखें।

इसके साथ ही नीतीश ने मोदी को बिहार पर टिप्पणी न करने की सलाह देते हुए कहा कि बिहार अपनी कमजोरियों से लड़ते हुए विकास की राह पर आगे बढ़ रहा है। नीतीश ने यह भी कहा कि हम दूसरों पर टिप्पणी नहीं करते, सो, कोई और भी बिहार पर टिप्पणी न करे तो अच्छा होगा।

उल्लेखनीय है कि राजकोट में हुई भाजपा कार्यकारिणी की दो-दिवसीय बैठक के समापन सत्र के दौरान रविवार को अपने संबोधन में मोदी ने कहा था कि बिहार के नेताओं द्वारा जातिगत राजनीति किए जाने के कारण यह प्रदेश पिछड़ गया। इसी बयान को लेकर बिहार में सत्तासीन जनता दल (यूनाइटेड) और विपक्षी दल राष्ट्रीय जनता दल ने मोदी की खिंचाई की थी।
बिहार विधानपरिषद के सदस्य और जद (यू) के प्रदेश प्रवक्ता नीरज कुमार ने कहा कि मोदी अभी अपनी पार्टी और गुजरात के बहुत सारे अंदरूनी संकटों से जूझ रहे हैं, सो, ऐसे में वह अपने मन के भाव प्रगट नहीं कर रहे हैं, बल्कि कहीं पर निगाहें, कहीं पर निशाना लगा रहे हैं।

नीरज का कहना था कि कि ऐसी बात कहने से पूर्व मोदी को ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि यहां उनकी पार्टी भी सरकार में शामिल है। नीरज ने कहा कि गुजरात को आधारभूत संरचना विरासत में मिली और बिहार का अधिकांश हिस्सा बाढ़ और सुखाड़ से प्रभावित रहा, परन्तु उसके बावजूद प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार की कार्यकुशलता के बूते यहां बड़ी उपलब्धियां हासिल की गईं।

नीरज ने कहा कि देश के आर्थिक आंकड़ों ने साबित कर दिया है कि बिहार जैसा बीमारू राज्य विकास दर और प्रति व्यक्ति आय के मामले में गुजरात से बहुत आगे है और बिहार का जो गौरवपूर्ण इतिहास पूर्व में रहा है, यह उसी दिशा में बढ़ता हुआ कदम है।

जद (यू) के प्रदेश प्रवक्ता के मुताबिक बिहार में इन प्रतिकूल परिस्थितियों के बावजूद जो विकास दर हासिल हुई है, वह आधारभूत संरचना के क्षेत्र में हमारे कार्यों का नतीजा है। वित्तीय प्रबंधन की बदौलत हम इसे विकास के मार्ग पर आगे लेकर चल रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि बिहार में जातिगत बंधन टूटे हैं। यहां 115 नरसंहार हुए थे, जो अब बंद हुए हैं तथा यहां सामाजिक समरसता एवं सांप्रदायिक सौहार्द का माहौल बना है, वह कुछ लोगों को रास नहीं आ रहा है।

नीरज ने कहा कि नीतीश अक्सर कहा करते हैं कि सामाजिक समरसता एवं सांप्रदायिक सौहार्द हमारी पूंजी हैं और बिहार की 10 करोड़ जनता का मानव श्रम है, जिसकी बदौलत बिहार विकास कर रहा है और ऐसा ही बिहार में सत्ता में शामिल मोदी जी की पार्टी भाजपा के लोग भी कहते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि लोग बयानबाजी करते रहते हैं, परन्तु मुख्यमंत्री कर्म में विश्वास रखते हैं, और बिहार जैसे बीमारू राज्य को विकसित प्रदेश की दिशा में ले जाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं, यह बात देश और दुनिया कबूल कर रही है।

मोदी के इस बयान को बिहार में प्रतिबंधित जातीय संगठन ब्रह्मेश्वर मुखिया की हत्या और उसके बाद उनके समर्थकों द्वारा तोड़फोड़ और आगजनी की घटनाओं से जोड़कर देखे जाने के बारे में पूछने पर नीरज ने कहा कि स्थिति का मूल्यांकन किया जाए तो अगर उस दिन पुलिस कार्रवाई करती तो गांवों में बड़ी मुश्किल से स्थापित सामाजिक सौहार्द बिगड़ सकता था।

उन्होंने कहा कि बिहार सरकार ने संयम से काम लिया और यह निर्णय भी लिया कि जिन लोगों ने भी उस दौरान उपद्रव किया था, उन्हें चिह्नित कर स्पीडी ट्रायल कराया जाएगा, जिससे भविष्य में कोई ऐसी हिम्मत नहीं कर सके।

A Parsi earning Rs 90,000 a month is 'poor'
The Planning Commission may find those earning more than Rs 32 a day ineligible to qualify as poor but for Mumbai's tiny but affluent Parsi community a 'poor Parsi' is one who makes upto Rs 90,000 per month.
The Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) informed the Bombay High Court on Monday that it has revised the definition of a 'poor Parsi' as one who earns upto Rs 90,000 per month in order to become eligible for accomodation in a subsidised housing scheme of the community.

There are about 5000 houses which are given on rent to the members of the Parsi community estimated to be around 45,000 in the city.

Earlier, the income limit for a poor Parsi was Rs 50,000 but it was raised to Rs 90,000 after BPP decided to sell some flats in suburban Andheri at subsidised rates to members of the community.

The court was hearing a petition filed by 65-year-old Rohinton Taraporewala, a resident of Dahanu in Thane district, challenging BPP's decision to reject his claim for allotment of a flat in Panthaki Baug in Andheri, North-west Mumbai.

Taraporewala had submitted names to show that some from the community were allotted flats in Panthaki Baug despite their income exceeding Rs 50,000 per month.

Soldiers wearing it can completely camouflage their dress, in the thick of action, with a press of a button. It is an electrically conducive fabric, and with the press of a button the temperature changes, automatically making the fabric change colour to match the background.

This textile could prove to be a boon for the soldiers and their equipment, which need to be camouflaged to evade detection by the enemy in the battlefield.
