The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a part of United Nations established on 16 November 1945.

Its aim is to contribute towards peace and security by encouraging worldwide collaboration through education, science, and culture in alignment to further universal respect for justice, the rule of law, and the human rights and basic freedoms declared in the UN Charter.

Some important points to remember about UNESCO ::

# UNESCO has 193 Member States and seven Associate Members.

# The association is founded in Paris, with over 50 field offices and numerous focused organisations and hubs throughout the world.

# UNESCO's five foremost programs: learning, natural sciences, communal and human sciences, heritage, and communication and information.

# Projects sponsored by UNESCO are

teacher-training programmes;
worldwide science programmes;
the advancement of unaligned media and freedom of the press;
