अच्छे-अच्छे आए-गए लेकिन नहीं टूट सके ये रिक
 भारत और ऑस्ट्रेलिया के बीच टेस्ट सीरीज की शुरुआत के पहले मैच के पहले दिन ही ऑस्ट्रेलियाई कप्तान माइकल क्लार्क ने रनों के मामले में सर डॉन ब्रेडमैन के रिकॉर्ड को पीछे छोड़ दिया। खेल कोई भी हो रिकॉर्ड बनते हैं और टूटते हैं। कहा जाता है कोई भी रिकॉर्ड बनता ही टूटने के लिए है लेकिन कुछ रिकॉर्ड ऐसे भी हैं जो सालों साल से टूटने के इंतजार में है।

 डॉन ब्रेडमैन का बल्लेबाजी औसत बल्लेबाजी के डॉन कहे जाने वाले ब्रेडमैन ने अपने टेस्ट करियर में 52 मैच की 80 पारियों में 99.94 की औसत से 6969 रन बनाए। उनका यह औसत फिलहाल टेस्ट खेल रहे खिलाड़ियों से करीब डेढ़ से दो गुना है।

 विल्फ्रेड रोड्स के 4204 विकेट प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेट में जहां सबसे अधिक रन बनाने का रिकॉर्ड इंग्लंड के जैक हॉब्स के नाम है वहीं इंग्लैंड क लेफ्ट आर्म स्पिनर विल्फ्रेड रोड्स सर्वाधिक विकेट लेने वालों में हैं। रोड्स ने 1110 मैच में 4204 विकेट लेकर ऐसा कीर्तिमान बनाया है जहां तक पहुंचना अब टेढ़ी खीर है।

 जैक हॉब्स के 61670 रन इंग्लैंड के दिग्गज बल्लेबाज ने 834 प्रथम श्रेणी मैचों में 61670 रन बनाए। यह किसी भी क्रिकेटर द्वारा प्रथम श्रेणी में बनाए सर्वाधिक रन हैं। इसमें 61 टेस्ट में बनाए5410 रन भी शािमल हैं। उनके शतकों की संख्या 199 व अर्धशतक 273 हैं।

 जिम लेकर के एक टेस्ट में 19 विकेट वर्ष 1956 में ओल्ड ट्रेफर्ड में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ टेस्ट मैच में इंग्लैंड के ऑफ स्पिनर जिम लेकर ने 19 विकेट लिए थे। उनके एक पारी में दस विकेट लेने का कीर्तिमान तो अनिल कुंबले ने बराबर कर लिया लेकिन वे मैच में कुल 14 विकेट ही हासिल कर सके थे।

 मुरलीधरन के 1334 इंटरनेशनल विकेट श्रीलंका के स्टार गेंदबाज मुथैया मुरलीधरन ने अपने 20 साल के करियर में 1334 विकेट लिए। इसमें 800 टेस्ट विकेट और 534 वन-डे विकेट हैं। फिलहाल कोई भी बल्लेबाज मुरली के इस आंकड़े के आस-पास भी नहीं है।

The England and Kent leg-spinner, a short man of about 5’2, took an astounding 304 wickets in the 1928 season. He bowled 1976.1 overs. The year was the start of Freeman’s incredible run of form. Over the next seven years, his annual wickets tally read as follows: 267, 275, 276, 253, 298, 205 and 212. Most cricketers could consider themselves fortunate to claim any of those numbers over a full career.

974 RUNS IN A TEST SERIES: Wally Hammond must have been chuffed when he totalled 905 runs on the Australian tour of 1928-29. In the next Ashes encounter, Don Bradman broke that record and made 974 runs in the five-match series in England. His scores read 8 & 131 at Trent Bridge, 254 & 1 at Lord’s, 334 at Headingley (309 of those on the first day of the match, another record), 14 in Manchester and finally 232 at the Oval. The closest anyone has come to breaking Bradman’s record is when Vivian Richards bashed 829 runs out of the same opponent in 1976.

40,000 RUNS AND 4000 WICKETS: If you thought Kapil Dev’s 5000-odd runs and 400-odd wickets were impressive you need to see Wilfred Rhodes’ numbers. In a career that spanned over three decades, the English right-hand bat and left-arm spinner scored 39,969 runs and took 4204 wickets. He is the record-holder for wickets in First Class cricket, well clear of Kent leg-spinner Tich Freeman who is in second position with 3776.

THE BIGGEST WIN: This may be the most one-sided game in First Class history. In 1964, Pakistan Railways chose to bat against Dera Ismail Khan in an Ayub Trophy game. They stacked up 910-6. So demoralised were Dera Ismail, they were bowled out for 32 in the first innings. In the second, they fared worse: they made just 27. The defeat by a margin of an innings and 851 runs remains the largest one in First Class cricket.
