NEW DELHI: New Delhi-based entrepreneur Robert Vadra, married into the country 's most powerful family, has made a quiet and relatively unheralded entry into the real estate business, including a partnership with DLF Ltd. India 's largest realty firm. Vadra, the son-in-law of the ruling United Progressive Alliance coalition chairperson Sonia Gandhi , has stayed away from electoral politics, maintaining that he wants to be known as a businessman.

In interviews, he has said that his focus is on Artex , a small company specialising in jewellery and handicraft exports. That seems to be changing as 42-year-old Vadra, known for his punishing fitness regime and love for fast bikes, has sought to scale up and diversify his business activities since 2008, acquiring tracts of land in Haryana and Rajasthan, a 50% stake in a leading business hotel in Delhi, and attempting an entry into the business of chartering aircraft. Regulatory filings available in the public domain and reviewed by ET reporters reveal the changing graph of Vadra 'sbusiness interests. These include wide-ranging transactions with the DLF Group.

Several of his companies have received loans, some unsecured, from DLF group companies, including the Bombay Stock Exchange-listed flagship DLF Ltd.

A JOINT VENTURE AND SOME LOANS

Sky Light Hospitality Pvt Ltd , a company wholly owned by Vadra and his mother Maureen Vadra, is a partner, along with DLF Hotel Holdings and others, in a partnership firm that owns the business hotel Hilton Garden Inn in the upscale South Delhi business district Saket. The hotel is located within the DLF Place mall, also known as DLF Courtyard. "The Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Saket is a small business hotel.

I have interest in hospitality and am happy to be part of the hotel," Vadra told ET, speaking on the phone from Europe, where he is travelling presently. He said the business association with DLF stemmed from a long-standing friendship with the family that controls the realty giant. "I have known the DLF people for a long time and they are friends of mine. I had wanted to invest in real estate and one thing led to another. Right now, I can only be part of a small hotel.

If I were taking favours from people I would be doing far bigger things. But I am doing this on my own. I can't expand immediately but I hope to expand a few years down the line," he added.

भारत के सबसे दिग्गज राजनैतिक परिवार के दामाद पर लगे भ्रष्टाचार के आरोपों की काट करने के लिए पूरी कांग्रेस और सरकार अपने दमखम के साथ खुलकर इस तरह सामने आ गई, गोया रोबेर्ट वाड्रा कांग्रेस और सरकार का प्रमुख हिस्सा हो. कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी की पुत्री प्रियंका के पति राबर्ट वाड्रा के खिलाफ अरविंद केजरीवाल व प्रशांत भूषण के सनसनीखेज आरोपों के बाद सरकार-कांग्रेस ने जवाबी हमला बोल दिया है. कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी खुद दामाद के बचाव में सामने आई और इन आरोपों को गलत करार देते हुए कहा कि वह एक उद्यमी हैं. सूत्रों के मुताबिक उन्होंने केजरीवाल को इन आरोपों की औपचारिक शिकायत करने की चुनौती भी दी है.

देश की सियासत में सबसे शक्तिशाली पते 10, जनपथ की तरफ उठे सवालों का जवाब देने के लिए मंत्रियों और कांग्रेस नेताओं की फौज तुरंत सक्रिय हो गई. कांग्रेस महासचिव व मीडिया विभाग के चेयरमैन जनार्दन द्विवेदी ने पूरी पार्टी से इन आरोपों की हर स्तर पर काट करने के लिए कहा है. अरविंद केजरीवाल और प्रशांत भूषण की तरफ से राबर्ट वाड्रा पर लगे सनसनीखेज आरोपों पर सभी ने तीखी प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त की. सूचना प्रसारण मंत्री अंबिका सोनी ने इन आरोपों को गलत करार दिया और इनके पीछे साजिश करार दी. कानून मंत्री सलमान खुर्शीद ने भी इन आरोपों को अमर्यादित बताया.

इनके अलावा पर्यावरण मंत्री जयंती नटराजन, संसदीय कार्यमंत्री राजीव शुक्ल, कांग्रेस प्रवक्ता मनीष तिवारी, राशिद अल्वी और रेणुका चौधरी सभी ने केजरीवाल के आरोपों को गलत बताया. मनीष तिवारी ने केजरीवाल की पार्टी को भाजपा की बी टीम करार दिया और कहा कि यह सब एक सोची-समझी साजिश के तहत किया जा रहा है.

दूसरी तरफ, रॉबर्ट वाड्रा के खिलाफ भ्रष्टाचार के सनसनीखेज आरोपों से गरमाई राजनीति में भाजपा को भी कांग्रेस के सबसे शक्तिशाली केंद्र ’10 जनपथ’ पर अंगुली उठाने का मौका दे दिया. पार्टी के मुख्य प्रवक्ता रविशंकर प्रसाद ने कहा, ‘ऐसा क्या था कि सोनिया गांधी के दामाद को रीयल एस्टेट कंपनी डीएलएफ ने करोड़ों का फायदा पहुंचाया.’ उन्होंने पूरे मामले की जांच की मांग की.

कांग्रेस ने महाराष्ट्र की गोसीखुर्द सिंचाई परियोजना को लेकर भाजपा अध्यक्ष नितिन गडकरी को घेरने की कोशिश की है. दो दिन से लगातार कांग्रेस में उच्च स्तर से गडकरी को भी भ्रष्टाचार में लपेटने की कोशिश हो रही है. ऐसे में शुक्रवार को मौका मिलते ही भाजपा ने भी वाड्रा के बहाने कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष पर अंगुली उठा दी. रविशंकर ने कहा, ‘कांग्रेस सरकारों ने डीएलएफ को सस्ते में जमीन दी और बदले में डीएलएफ ने वाड्रा को फायदा पहुंचाया. डीएलएफ वाड्रा के लिए इतना उदार क्यों थी? इसकी जांच होनी चाहिए.’

इससे पहले राजनीति में उतरते ही अरविंद केजरीवाल ने बड़ा धमाका किया. उन्होंने कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी के दामाद रॉबर्ट वाड्रा पर कांग्रेस शासित राज्य सरकारों की मदद से काला धन बनाने का आरोप लगाया है. पूर्व कानून मंत्री शांति भूषण ने तो कहा है कि वाड्रा के खिलाफ सुबूत इतने पुख्ता हैं कि जांच की नहीं, सीधे कार्रवाई की जरूरत है. बाबा रामदेव ने भी इसे बेहद संगीन मामला बताया है.

केजरीवाल ने शुक्रवार को यहां एक प्रेस कांफ्रेंस में दावा किया कि वाड्रा की पांच कंपनियों ने बिना कोई कारोबार किए 50 लाख रुपये लगाकर 300 करोड़ की जायदाद बना ली. उन्होंने सुबूत के तौर पर कंपनी पंजीयक के दस्तावेज पेश कर बताया कि इन कंपनियों के पास 2007 में सिर्फ 50 लाख की रकम थी. लेकिन, तीन साल में उनके पास 300 करोड़ की संपत्ति आ गई, जिसकी मौजूदा बाजार कीमत 500 करोड़ से ज्यादा है.

केजरीवाल के मुताबिक रीयल्टी क्षेत्र की कंपनी डीएलएफ ने बिना किसी गारंटी या ब्याज के वाड्रा को 65 करोड़ रुपये दिए और फिर उसी रकम से उन्होंने डीएलएफ की ही जायदाद कौड़ियों के भाव खरीद ली. इसी कंपनी ने गुड़गांव के मैग्नोलिया अपार्टमेंट में सात फ्लैट वाड्रा की कंपनियों को महज 5.2 करोड़ में दे दिए. इन फ्लैट का बाजार भाव कम से कम 35 करोड़ था. इसी तरह अरालियाज अपार्टमेंट में एक पेंटहाउस सिर्फ 89 लाख में दे दिया, जिसकी कीमत 20 करोड़ थी. दिल्ली के साकेत स्थित डीएलएफ हिल्टन गार्डेन होटल की 50 फीसद हिस्सेदारी सिर्फ 32 करोड़ में दे दी गई, जबकि उसकी कीमत 150 करोड़ थी.

वरिष्ठ वकील प्रशांत भूषण ने सवाल उठाया कि वाड्रा को डीएलएफ ने इतने फायदे क्यों पहुंचाए? भूषण ने कहा, ‘यह स्पष्ट है कि दिल्ली और हरियाणा की कांग्रेस सरकारों ने जनहित के नाम पर जमीन अधिग्रहण कर डीएलएफ को उपलब्ध करवाई थी. जिस अपार्टमेंट में वाड्रा को सात फ्लैट दिए गए, वह जमीन भी राज्य सरकार ने कंपनी को मुहैया करवाई थी.’ प्रशांत भूषण के पिता शांति भूषण ने तो इस पूरे मामले को रॉबर्ट वाड्रा घोटाले का नाम दे दिया. उन्होंने कहा, ‘इनके खिलाफ तो जुर्म साबित है. किसी जांच की जरूरत ही नहीं. सीधे कार्रवाई की जानी चाहिए.’

बाबा रामदेव ने भी इसे बेहद गंभीर मामला बताया है. उन्होंने कहा, ‘जितने दस्तावेज और आंकड़े पेश किए गए हैं, वे तो बहुत कम हैं. वास्तव में वाड्रा ने गुड़गांव और फरीदाबाद में हजारों करोड़ रुपये की संपत्ति बना ली है.’

India Against Corruption (IAC) members Prashant Bhushan and Arvind Kejriwal on October 5 2012 accused Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra of large-scale corruption in real estate dealings. In a highly speculated press conference, the IAC members alleged that real estate giant DLF had sold him prime land at throw-away prices and given him interest-free loans. They said, property worth over Rs 300 crores was sold to Vadra for just Rs 50 lakh.Speculation was rife among political observers in the national capital about activist Arvind Kejriwal's announcement to 'expose' the corruption of a "powerful political leader" on Friday. Kejriwal had said on October 2 2012 that his group would reveal sensational information against two political leaders on Saturday. However, the IAC changed its plans and held its press conference on Friday.

"Why did DLF give Rs. 65 crore loan to Vadra without any interest? He bought DLF properties with that money at discounted rates. What benefit did Vadra provide to the Congress party for this?. He bought Rs. 65 crore property for Rs. 5 crore. So how did DLF benefit? There are many questions. There are four penthouses in one DLF property in Gurgaon. he brought these through a maze of five companies. We have details of 12 companies registered in the past few years- six registered in 2012 alone. A penthouse sold in 2009 for Rs.89 lakh- whose market value was Rs.25 crore then, and is now at least Rs. 40 crore," Prashant Bhushan alleged.
"Prima facie," he added, were charges under Prevention of Corruption Act and Income Tax Act.

Arvind Kejriwal demanded the government to probe into the benefits Robert Vadra may have received in the corrupt property deals.
The second expose speculated to be against a Mumbai-based political figure is expected on October 10 2012, according to the activists. Earlier this year Kejriwal-Bhushan duo had released documents against 15 Cabinet ministers including PM charging them of corruption. They had demanded that a special investigation team be set up to investigate the charges.
The government, however, chose to ignore the demand despite a partially successful hunger strike by Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai at Jantar Mantar in July. The activists hope that through a series of "revelations" they will be able to strengthen the anti-graft image of their unnamed party.

एक बहुत ही सामयिक मामले पर जानकारीपूर्ण सामग्री प्रस्तुत करने के लिए आपका आभारी हूं, लेकिन मेरा मानना है कि रॉबर्ट वाड्रा पर यह आरोप एकदम नए नहीं हैं ! विभन्न स्वरों में ये आरोप यदा-कदा उछलते रहे हैं, लेकिन उनका नोटिस कभी नहीं लिया गया, क्योंकि वे आरोप स्वयं मीडिया की ओर से आयद थे और उनके पीछे कोई केजरीवाल नहीं था ! ज़ाहिर है, या तो जानबूझ कर उन्हें इग्नोर किया गया, ताकि कोई इसका नोटिस नहीं ले या चांदी का चम्मच मुंह में दे कर उन लोगों का मुंह बंद करा दिया गया, जो यह मामला उठा रहे थे !
उदाहरण दूं, अपनी ही फोरम का ! अरविन्दजी ने अपने एक सूत्र (शीर्षक अब याद नहीं, अरविन्दजी बेहतर बता सकते हैं) में गांधी परिवार की खाल उधेड़ी है और तकरीबन ये सारी जानकारी उस सूत्र में है यानी मीडिया के पास इन घोटालों की सूचना थी, और उसने सामने लाने का प्रयास भी किया, लेकिन किन्हीं निहित स्वार्थों की वज़ह से उन्हें दबा दिया गया ! मेरा मानना है कि संप्रग सरकार की सारी हरकतें ऎसी हैं, मानो वह जनता के सामने ताल ठोंक रही हो और उसे मजबूर कर रही हो कि वह खाड़ी देशों जैसे हालात यहां उत्पन्न कर दे !
