Delhi Couples to take new marriage oath from this month

From this month marriage registrations in Delhi will require couples to take an oath that they will never opt for sex determination of their children.

This will be on their marriage certificate.
It comes after the lowest recorded boy/girl sex ratio in the 2011 census was 836 girls to 1000 boys, in the southwest district of Delhi.

It is hoped the new rules will improve violence against girls.
