Default Re: Feku vs. Pappu

Ever since the two 'next' prime ministers decided to speak out, twitterati too has started playing fastest fingers first. Giving a humorous and hostile touch at the same time to this battle has been tweets for both pro and against the respective speakers Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi. Along with regular trends, rahulgandhicii and narendramodificci, the two trends that have brought the wittiest best out of users are Pappu and Feku.

Rahul Gandhi's address at CII led to trending of pappu, pappucii. The tweets started pouring from even before Rahul started speaking with some even declaring the day a pappu day. Various international sites reporting on the day also had to run stories explaining the term 'pappu' to their global audiences. Reuters story that explained the term 'the top trending topic on Twitter in India while Gandhi was speaking was #PappuCII. Pappu is a derogatory colloquial Hindi word meaning "dumb kid"', was further retweeted by users. His comments 'I've lost it' and 'Boss, not happening' gave fodder to all the pun-dits. The day was devoted to puns around these two statements added with these trends.

Even before Narendra Modi started to speak at FICCI Ladies Organisation, trend Feku already had users hooked. Everything from chapattis, papads and pizzas he mentioned were quickly mocked at and clubbed with this trend. Saris, churidars and shirts too were mentioned with Feku. Every claim about the development was made fun of with countering reports.

Again various websites had to explain the term to people following the speech through twitter abroad. Even journalists and reporters present at the venue, listening to Modi started tweeting with the term Feku to get a retweet or a mention. After that event, Modi has already delivered three speeches and every time he spoke, Feku was also trending.

This battle between Pappu and Feku has tweeple captivated. Feku has been prolific over last few days. The baton passes to Pappu now and twitterati awaits.
